LIFE AT HIGHLANDS

At Highlands you are free to come and go as you please , we just ask you to tell us if you are going out and what time you expect to return.  Your privacy and peace will be respected and your independence encouraged. Mealtimes are an opportunity for socialising.  We serve three meals a day, breakfast is in your room and lunch and supper in our dining room. All meals are home cooked on the premises and wherever possible we source and use fresh local produce.  We will ask you about your likes and dislikes so that we can ensure the menus include some of your favorites.  Hot and cold drinks are always available

Your friends and relatives are welcome to visit us whenever they like, although we ask them to avoid mealtimes.  If you let us know in advance, they can join you for a meal or stay overnight. There is a small charge for this.  Although we cannot accommodate residents’ pets at Highlands, Purdy, our resident cat, makes any visiting dogs very welcome!

There are a wide range of social activities and events on offer such as coffee mornings, arts and craft afternoons, exercise classes and outings to local attractions.  You are welcome to join anything which appeals to you but equally will be left to do your own thing if you would prefer.  We are always open to your suggestions for activities and visits.

We have our own library of books and films and there are IPads available for you to use.

You might choose to do your own shopping or have family and friends shop for you.  We have our own little shop which stocks basic essential items and is open daily.  We also organise occasional clothes sales and shopping trips to nearby towns.

We have a well-equipped hairdressing salon at Highlands and hairdressers visit regularly. If you wish, your own hairdresser can visit you and use the salon facilities.

Our local churches provide a monthly celebration of Holy Communion and Songs of Praise here for our residents
